WHOOOOOOOOOO ULTIMATE WARRIOR!!!

I don't even know what that is supposed to mean but it sure sounded awesome when Atsuo yelled that as he was banging away on his translucent pink drums.

I had the pleasure of seeing Boris a few nights ago and it was worth every penny. Huge amps, deafening volume, killer riffs, plus Michio Kurihara adding sonic texture along the way made for a pretty amazing night. To see a 5'3 Japanese women slay her guitar in front of full Orange stack almost double her size was impressive to say the least. Not since I saw Ween a few years ago have I seen a band utilize a fog machine like they have. If you're remotely into whatever bullshit sub-genre of metal they play, I highly recommend checking them out.

..............

I had my second triathlon the other day. 70th out of 330...........I guess my fat ass can still move when I need it to. Now if only i could swim faster........

Looking for a new job is a job in itself.

I'm going to slate this fucker

I don't even know what that means. Probably some film terminology about marking before your shoot?

I was walking home one night and passed by Cinema 21, saw a poster for a documentary called Winnebago Man and wanted to know more. I went home, got on youtube, found something that had over 2 million hits and proceeded to laugh more in 4 minutes then I ever had in my life. After playing the clip for everyone I could find, I saw the movie, and now i'm through with Winnebago Man. If you haven't watched the clip, do yourself a favor.

Amazing story huh?

Here's another one.

About a week ago 3 women of various ages came into my restaurant around 1a.m. I proceeded to seat them at a table where people were already dining. They didn't understand the concept of family style seating and requested that they be sat where they weren't "eating on top of other people" even though there was space in-between the two groups. Probably from lake oswego. At this point during my night I was feeling a bit thuggish and decided to put Clipse on the stereo to loosen things up.

Fast forward 40 minutes.

I'm standing at the bar when one of those 3 women approach me. She was probably in her mid 20's and fairly attractive. She motions to me to come over and then proceeds to tell me how she finds the lyrics of the Clipse song "grinding" very offensive. I told her that i'm not a lyrical person and was unaware as to what Pusher T and Malice were saying. I then ask her why she thinks that and defend the track 'cause I think the beat is hot....which it is.

She goes on to tell me she's creole(what relevance does that have?) and that we serve creole food(which we don't) and she doesn't think that music has a place in here or anywhere for that matter. Now I've seen enough people bitch in my tenure at this restaurant and can see straight through her bullshit....she wants something for free and she's not getting shit.

Lets get real here folks. The song isn't offensive. Its not about degrading women, big screen tvs or smoking blunts. Its about the trials and tribulations of selling crack rock. If she found that offensive its because she either had prior experience with the drug or sold it herself. At 1:30 in the morning you should be lucky that any place is open to for you mow down "creole" food.

Quater Life Crisis?

Not really, but its fucked up to think that i'm 25. Half way to 50, 5 years away from 30. I can remember like yesterday having the best times ( or should I say, the best carefree times) of my life in high school and college. I've got it in my head that you're supposed reach certain milestones at specific points in your life: Have a nice start down a career path, own property, have a diversified portfolio, meet at girl at this point, get married in 2 years, and god-forbid have a kid at or around 30.

Of all that bullshit what do I have? Maybe the girl, and maybe a career path on some days depending on how I feel or decide to look at it.

On the plus side? I like where i'm at. I've got a job, I've got great friends, my health, awesome hobbies, and the drive to do whatever it is that I put my mind to.

Not so bad.

Fuck society brainwashing people.

My 5 week race finishes at MT Tabor(all out 40 or higher): 12, 12,18,25,14. Middle of the road. (no pun intended).

As for my restaurant griping: People who say they don't want to sit by the door for various reasons are chickenshit in my book. Actually, in general, people who complain about being sat somewhere that they don't like are giant piles of chickenshit. I mean come on. Your food is going to taste the same regardless if you're in one area of the restaurant or another. And lets be honest, its just dinner right? Your meal for two is going to cost less then 30 bucks with tip(if you decide to do that) so don't fucking complain!

Almost 1 year

Jeez. I remember the time when I thought this would be a good idea. Ha. Somehow 401 people have viewed this.....poor bastards.

I think I'm going to start this up again but this time use it as a front to vent my frustrations about the restaurant industry and cycling.

Personal/Restaurant observation of the day: For some reason I've noticed that angry, grumpy homosexuals tend to have a problem with me. I can't put my finger as to why this happens but it does. I have the pleasure of working with a few. They're all nice people. Just angry, at me, all the time. Maybe they're just attracted to me and want what they can't have. I donno, that's just my guess.

Bullshit emo feeling of the day: broken

Beat up your wife, get four years til life

A little over a month has passed since I last decided to update this thing......lets see whats new shall we?

Its almost the end of July and its finally started to get hot here in Portland. As I'm writing this it's 100+ degrees outside and any sort of physical activity sounds like a god awful idea.

I went back to Minneapolis at the end of June for a close friends wedding and it was awesome to say the least. I got to see a ton of people who I hadn't seen or talked to in a long while and it was nice to hear that everyone is doing well and in good health. Congrats Katie and thanks to Gordon and Emma for putting me up. I also rediscovered why I left in the first place. Minneapolis is chill, but not chill enough. Everyone there thinks that the city is so bike friendly, yet I hardly saw anyone on a bike........fucking delusional Midwesterners.

I finally quit my internships after a year...........long overdue......don't know how i feel about that.........but i do know that never in a million years do i want to work for free again.

I also sacked up and bought shoes & clipless pedals for my bike. Long story short: best decision ever! Its quite the amazing feeling to be one with your machine. Highly recommended.

Speaking of bikes, Contador wins the Tour(no surprise).......he's an amazing cyclist but also a douche. I hope Andy Schleck beats his ass next year.

I started making beats again, I forgot much how fun it is to chop up drums. Maybe, just maybe, I'll post the stuff I'm working on.

Music I'm currently Jockin':
Helmet - Aftertase, Betty
KRS-ONE - Any cut by DJ Premier
Agoraphobic Nosebleed - Frozen Corpses Stuffed with Dope
Zapp - I
Ghostface - Ironman

P.S. Hoyt Arboretum is pretty dope.

Almost a month

I read somewhere that the blogging phenomenon is starting to tail off. Something like 70% of everyone who 'blogs' stops after a month. On that same note, something like 70% of the people who visit blogs go to the same 1,000 blogs out there. Interesting no?

I'm gonna murder someone if I can't make my current situation work, thus forcing me to be a complete pussy and go to law school. Fuck the music industry. Why can't people pay a reasonable amount for somewhat decent music to help keep good people working?

I got a gig playing the 'official' afterparty for the PJ Harvey show this coming Wednesday. Can't say i'm a big fan of her music, but i can say that her music doesn't suck either. Hopefully a ton of people will be there cause i wanna make some scrill and get some deace exposure. Hope people like Gil Scott Heron and Ice Cube.

New records i'm currently jockin':
Clark - Totems Flare
Lee Fields & The Expressions - My World
Tortoise - Beacons of Ancestorship
SUNN - Monoliths and Dimensions
Warp's 20th Anniversary Box - I will order this tomorrow

Thing i'm not jockin' at all:
Pretty Lights
Hippies
Music that Hippies like including Pretty Lights and anyone associated with him(them).

I need to bail on the country for a bit

I'm going to Japan for a month. In three weeks time I will have enough to buy a ticket. I plan to leave the end of January:) I worry too much about useless stuff i.e. finding a 'career' or 'saving money.' All that shit will fall into place when the time comes. I haven't left Oregon in almost 5 years. I gotta get out before I shoot someone in the face.

Interesting restaurant antidote #2: Asian women between the ages 21-27 usually tend to dress provocatively, in a funny way and the Asian dudes that roll in with them look even funnier. Also, Middle Eastern men tend to travel in packs, but never seem to have women with them. Any thoughts? I sure do.

I'm jocking the White Stripes these days (Elephant, Get Behind Me Satan), Sabbath(Paranoid, Master of Reality) and Tortoise's new record which doesn't come out for another month and a half.
